Power BI & Analytics Specialist

Builds live dashboards and reporting layers that connect operational systems to executive decision-making. Turns ERP data, project management systems, and field tools into real-time visibility that leadership actually uses.

What you'll do

Day-to-day

  • Design and build Power BI dashboards connected to live data sources: ERP SQL databases, Procore API, SharePoint lists, and Dataverse.
  • Create executive portfolio views: job cost vs. budget, schedule variance, change order tracking, margin analysis, and project health across divisions.
  • Build department-level operational reports: HR metrics, safety compliance rates, equipment utilization, estimating pipeline, and financial summaries.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries and DAX measures for performance on large operational datasets.
  • Configure row-level security so the right people see the right data based on their role and division.
  • Set up automated data refresh schedules and alert thresholds for at-risk metrics.
  • Document data models, measure definitions, data source assumptions, and known gaps so client teams can maintain reports independently.
What we're looking for

You should

  • Deep Power BI experience: complex data models, DAX, live connections, DirectQuery vs. Import tradeoffs, and row-level security.
  • Strong SQL skills. Comfortable writing queries against ERP databases and operational systems you have never seen before.
  • Understand how business leaders read dashboards. You design for decisions, not decoration.
  • Can work with messy source data: missing fields, inconsistent codes, multiple systems that do not agree. You remediate and document rather than pretend the data is clean.
  • Clear written communication. You document data sources, transformation logic, assumptions, and known gaps.
  • Comfortable working inside client environments with governed access and enterprise security requirements.
Nice to have

Bonus points

  • Experience with construction, manufacturing, or project-based business data (job cost, WBS, phase codes, change orders)
  • Familiarity with Viewpoint Vista, Procore, or similar ERP/project management system data structures
  • Exposure to Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or Dataverse as upstream data sources
  • Experience with Spreadsheet Server or similar live reporting layers on top of ERP SQL
  • Background in a consultancy or agency supporting multiple concurrent clients
