GTM Engineer

Owns cold outbound email systems for Bait Shop clients. Builds sending infrastructure from scratch, enriches and segments local SMB lead lists, writes sequences that drive replies, and delivers clean pipeline to CRM. This role is execution, not strategy.

What you'll do

Day-to-day

  • Build and manage cold email sending infrastructure: domains, warmup, inbox rotation, deliverability monitoring.
  • Enrich, segment, and score lead lists of local business owners using Clay, Data Axle, and web scraping tools (Apify, Modash).
  • Write, A/B test, and iterate on cold email sequences. Optimize for reply rates and booked meetings, not vanity metrics.
  • Manage campaigns in Instantly with tight feedback loops on what converts by vertical and market.
  • Sync outbound pipeline to CRM (currently Attio) so the client has clean, actionable deal flow.
  • Launch outbound in new markets as client businesses expand. Package repeatable playbooks, not one-off campaigns.
  • Surface patterns from outbound data that sharpen ICP definitions, messaging, and market selection.
  • Document what you build. Another operator should be able to pick up your system and run it.
What we're looking for

You should

  • Have built cold email systems from scratch at early-stage companies (under $500K ARR). You know the difference between "set up Instantly" and "build a system that scales to multiple markets."
  • Deeply, hands-on fluent with Clay: waterfall enrichment, lead scoring, table workflows. Not "I've used it a few times."
  • Have run campaigns in Instantly or similar tools (Smartlead, Lemlist). You understand warmup, rotation, and deliverability at a practical level.
  • Have CRM experience. Attio is ideal; Pipedrive or HubSpot also relevant. You care about clean data in the pipe, not just volume.
  • Understand local/SMB sales motions. Selling a $99–$279/mo product to a salon owner is different from selling $50K contracts to VPs. You get that.
  • Self-directed and low-maintenance. You ship and share results, not status updates.
  • Comfortable working async. Bait Shop runs async-first across all engagements.
Nice to have

Bonus points

  • Comfort with scraping tools (Apify, Modash) and data enrichment workflows beyond Clay
  • Experience with Supabase or similar lightweight data layers
  • Familiarity with multi-city or multi-market expansion playbooks
  • Experience in a consultancy or agency environment supporting multiple clients in parallel
